New sex scandal in Cuyahoga County government

It's bad enough that a bribery, corruption and conspiracy scandal has rocked Cuyahoga County government for the past four years. Now there's a sex scandal in the Cuyahoga County Public Defender's office, complete with nude pictures. It was uncovered (pun intended) by WKYC's Investigator Tom Meyer.

His story starts with "Everyone assumed that when Tom Condosta's office door was closed at the Cuyahoga County Public Defender's office, he was busy doing legal work for those who could not afford their own attorney. But Channel 3 News Investigator Tom Meyer has learned that Condosta is accused of taking photographs of a completely naked female client inside his county office across from the Justice Center downtown."

Okay, bad enough that pictures were taken but Meyer also learned that Condosta is also accused of posting the nude photos on a pornographic website. Condosta denied the allegations. Seriously, would anyone admit doing that?

Meyer got the client to talk on the condition her name not be disclosed. Meyer wrote "She said there's no question that Condosta represented her in a case in which she said he would help her get a felony conviction overturned or at least have the case re-opened. In addition to taking what she says was about 50 nude photos."

50? Not 5, not 25 but 50?? She also told Meyer Condosta made sexual advances inside his county office. She said Condosta touched her in her private areas, but she said she told him to stop.

Seriously, what the heck is going on in the Cuyahoga County government offices? Guess they all weren't "scared straight" after the FBI/IRS probe. The fourth anniversary of the probe going public is July 28. What part of watching 50-plus people being tried or pleading guilty escaped the moral compass of some government employees? And even sex wasn't the main ingredient of the ongoing probe except in the case of former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora, whose sexual proclivities were as omnivorous as his appetite for pricey steaks, Crown Royal liquor and power.

Or is it arrogance? Meyer said that on the day Condosta denied he was disciplined by Chief Public Defender Robert Tobik, Meyer learned he was actually fired. A spokesman for Tobik said Condosta was even placed on administrative leave the week prior to his firing. This is a guy there for 24 years making $90,187 a year.

I know that there's a whole new form of county government -- instead of three county commissioners at the helm there is a county executive and a county council. The people who were found or pleaded guilty are gone but this discovery by Meyer begs the question: just how many misbehaving, bad apples are there still lurking in the hallowed halls of the county government?
